O. R.I.P. 💜
I don't watch TV nowadays. But I was at my parents and I saw Tony Hawk doing some kind of old people ad. I really didn't catch what it was. Vitamins, joint pain relief....something of the sort. But it hit me like a bag of bricks about how much I've aged. lol!
Mike Mcgill Board ,
He was. On the Movie, Thrashin.
Watching skating from the 80s into the 90s was an amazing experience. Boards got better, tricks got crazier and the music behind it all was superb. I'll die grateful I got to be a teen through much of it and even though I'm old and busted up now, those days in my driveway with a homemade PVC pipe rail trying hard to slide and watching skate videos from the pros are some of my best memories I'll take to the grave!!
Wheres Sk8 Master Tate.
Tony Hawk is 19:00, he did amazing.
This takes me back. I even saw Christian Hosoi.
3:52
Wow a kick flip Indy ?that was rare for that time , heck yeah Cab
I got out of skating so much when I got into guitar and when I decided to get a new board the one that showed was like a tooth pick 😂 I was freaking ticked where did the concave go ? Thankfully I found some that had concave
Kickflip indy, 11:15 mark, wtf. Cab's style is ridiculously smooth
Amazing
Very cool thanks
Always respect to Gonz, Guerrero, of course Rodney, But Natas is the truth. He was street. He solo’d everything.
It never got better than this. Natas man. He was the streets.
THE Lord of Dogtown. Massive legend
I really enjoyed this video❤ thank you...
Butch was one of the most criminally underrated skaters of the era. Bar none.
Who is cooler than Bertlemann!
Best years to be a teenager!
Awesome wall tricks! I remember being 14 in 1988 street skating with my Gonz flower deck, tracker trucks, slimeball wheels. The nose on the model Gonz was perfect for nose picks! It was the board I learned to do an ollie kickflip on.
Nice
The Music Man - Ya Got Trouble
Charlie Daniels Band - Everytime I See Him (1973)
The surf and resulting skate culture of the 70s changed the world. Music, fashion, attitude even food changed as a result of the 70s skate culture. Overnight, z town became anytown usa. Punk, rap , hop hop was the results musically. It all started with jazz though.
🎯💯
Yeah when I saw Midwest kids wearing op shorts and van shoes and talking like spicioli ten years before spicoli, I knew something big was happening. Unfortunately it was the last gasp before participation trophies and vans taking kids to soccer practice and right back to their bedroom prisons and their electro leashes.
It didn't start with jazz anymore than it started with blues or any other genre since the beginning of sound
😅 living proof that their natural bullshitters. ✊🏿💩✊🏿✊🏿💩✊🏿✅💯💯
Kind of cool then ..the worst culture now.
Eric dressens most natural successor. Flippin' Bangin' regular allrounder. awesome.
Hawk and caballero are both goofy stance~
Pig Market Markham had mad flow and that SONO straight lettered !
NO BUENO! Skaterock, skatepunk and hardcore punk is skateboarding. #makeskateboardingpunkrockagain and keep it that way yall 🤠
No. Skateboarding music is whatever skaters listen to and there is a wide variety of skaters and musical taste out there.
Having to push across the flat in the indoor park. Small wheels sucked. A lot of people drifted from skating during that stage.
Such a weird time. As the Phelper said 'It needed to get small to go big". The good thing is the early 90's gave us tech. The bad thing is many that learned at that time are now podcast hosts and gate keepers and do not respect skateboarding history pre-kickflip.
I don't know when rap became skateboard music because in the 80s, I never heard anyone listen to rap while skateboarding. I remember pulling out the cardboard to try and breakdance when I was a kid, and listening to some in the early 90s, but had zero to do with my skateboarding phase. I guess you being the first to add it to skate videos might be when it started, so what year was that? Takes years to become part of the mainstream skate scene though. Rap hip hop in the 40s and 60s is a huuuuge stretch. I hope this isn't you getting into the AI music crap. Making me cringe with that beat accompanying songs that had zero to do with them.
I imagine it's regional but in California we were listening to rap since Rappers Delight and Grand Master Flash in 1979. Goin Off was made in 86 and released in 87.
@@RealSkateStories Rap was a thing here in Texas as well, just wasn't part of the skateboarding scene in the 80s as far as I am aware. Maybe 90s and on.
@@agomodern By the 90's it was in skate scenes everywhere!
The first raps were done by the Irish with their limericks set to a beat. There was a young man from Nantucket . . . Was one they did.
Awesome 😎
That Gil Scott Heron line was interesting.. It was originally banned to write anything here in north, specially in stone. They are cursives (cursing). Good video. Thanks!
Double Dutch Bus (1980) is historic for the "izz" infix. just saying is all , you're the boss of me Real Stories. ❤

What a time to be alive. That half-pipe was so smooth and fun. They had a great freestyle area too. I'd like to see a Big O video too. I grew up and still live in Fountain Valley, we had the shittiest waste of concrete ever made.
He’s definitely one of the best to ever do it. He was named skater of the century before the new millennium hit
Brother Doubt. Sick fuckin song. The whole album rules. This is the first skate video I ever saw. So good!
